Qualifier International Umpire Course in England

Report by Sophie Ardenoy:

This was the QUIC Newcastle 2025 (29/03/2025 – 30/03/2025) for me:

Together with Master Eddy Van Damme, Sabum Nico Tunyck, Sabum Kevin Vlaeminck and Boosabum Milan Burms, I represented ITF Belgium.

Day 1 : We arrived on Friday so we had time to see Newcastle. Jesmond, the bridges, the castle, Grey’s momument and so much more … a trip worthy !

Day 2 : Pattern, Pree-arranged free sparring and Sparring were covered.  Both on individual and team level.  We got a lot of useful and new information.  Questions could be asked and were answered.

Day 3 : Power and Special Techniques were discussed in the morning.  In the afternoon it was time to put theory into practice. Then it was time to return home.

It was a weekend where I again learned a lot, was able to meet ‘old’ and ‘new’ friends, had fascinating conversations, got to know the Belgian participants that little bit more, ate very well and got to know a beautiful city.

AETF Women Committee Webinar

Sunday December 15th 2024 the AETF Women Committee organized its second webinar; about 45 participants, both female and male Taekwon-Do practitioners, enjoyed the interesting talks & presentations and the honest testimonies, in presence of AETF Vice President Master Virginia Dionisi.

Among the attendees were also some members of ITF-Belgium.

After the welcome by the chair of the committee, Master Annick Van Driessche, Bsb. Ursa Terdin (Slovenia) started her presentation on sports psychology: ‘What role does our mind play on the mats?’

Being a top athlete and coach, and as sport psychologist, the preserntation of Bsb. Ursa was very intersting to all involved in Taekwon-Do and the way she is speaking in front of a public makes it very enjoyable and inspiring.

The second presentation was a brave testimony of Sb. Jenny Swain (UK), very honest and emotional: ‘Fertility and IVF, Pregnancy and training, Postpartum recovery and training, Competing and being a mum.’ Sb. Jenny was talking about her own experiences, thus speaking about topics so necessary to talk about.

The last part of the webinar was a presentation by the AETF Women Committee on the tasks of and how to establish a national Women Committee.
