Wednesday October 8th
After the official opening ceremony the category female power breaking started, with Esther Meulemeester and Tabitha Van Lierde. Esther, mother from a 9-months-old baby, started practising again few months ago and only got selected last summer. Although the preparation was short, she was able to break the boards in yop chagi. Tabitha managed to break 3 out of 5 techniques, which is quite a good performance, just under the top ladies who were smashing 4 and some even 5 techniques.
In the afternoon it was time for the male power breaking category, with Juan Martinez and Hans Van Lierde. Also both men did well, with Juan breaking in 3 and Hans in 2 of the designated techniques.
Also our 3 junior ladies had te perform, in sparring: Heidi Bewa, Lara & Helin Capa. Heidi was the first one to come in action. In her first time ever sparring bout on an official championship, she performed very well against Norway, in a nice and clean fight. The norvegian girl was able to win, but the future looks bright for Heidi. Lara was up against Slovakia, Helin had to face Switzerland. Both girls fought as lions, but could not take the win. Next time…
