National Umpire Course

The U&T Committee ITF-Belgium has several tasks. One of them is to form new umpires and to keep the existing referees updated. To do this the committee is organising several umpire courses a year. On Sunday September 29th 2019 in Oostakker the chairman and members of the U&T Committee conducted a beginners course in the morning, followed by an advanced course in the afternoon. On both sessions a lot of members ITF-Belgium were present.

The course consisted of both a theoretical and an practical part. At the end of the seminar the participants all received a certificate.

Day of Taekwon-Do

The second Day of Taekwon-Do 2019 was held in Jambes, September 22nd. The seminar was open to all members ITF-Belgium, regardless of age and degree. Over 100 members participated.

Some of the best instructors of Belgium, assisted by the national team members, were conducting classes in tul & fundamental movements, sparring, hosinsul, power breaking and special techniques. Participants were divided in groups according to age/grade, with a separate program for the kids (3-7).

Last squad training before departure to Sarajevo

On September 22nd in Jambes the team members of the Belgian team had a last squad training before the EC 2019 in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, under guidance of the national coaches.  Thanks to the sponsors, Mighty Fist and FROS, the material (doboks, track suits, safety-equipment, T-shirts) were distributed. There was also some time to take nice group pictures with the competitors, umpires, officials and coaches.

The team will leave to Sarajevo on October 8th. On October 9th the accreditation, weigh-in, coach meeting & umpire meeting are scheduled, the competition is starting a day later. So team members still have 2 weeks to prepare!

Keep updated through this website or on social media, and follow the team on the 2019 EC.

European Week of Sports 2019

September 23rd-29th

#BeActive

For the European Week of Sports some European ITF Taekwon-Do schools/clubs are launching -at the same moment- a movie about girls and women in Taekwon-Do: Ge-Baek (Lokeren, Belgium), Ssung Zsang (Groningen, The Netherlands), Total Taekwon-Do (London, England) & Taekwon-Do Tigers (Tampere, Finland). With this movie the clubs want to focus on gender equality, showing the importance of having female practitioners in Taekwon-Do by putting them into the spotlights for a moment.
