National Instructors Course

Lokeren, June 19th 2022

Twice a year ITF-Belgium has its National Instructors Course, a course open to instructors. The first NIC of 2022 will take place June 19th in Lokeren, with on the programme: warming-up exercises (Nico Tunyck), tuls Do-san & Choong-gun (GrandMaster Frank Vanberghen), an introduction of the inclusion committee & adapted programme (Inclusion Committee) and hosinsul against knife attacks (Nico Tunyck).

The next NIC will be organized October 16th in St-Lievens-Houtem, with tuls Chon-ji up to Tong-il.

Day of Taekwon-Do & Kids Day

Woluwe, Sunday June 5th

On this bank holiday still 9 instructors and 90 participants gathered for this seminar, amongst them also 2 friends from Argentina. In several workshops (2 for the kids 3-7, 9 for the youth, juniors and seniors) different disciplines of Taekwon-Do passed by. The participants were motivated, the instructors experienced, and everyone enjoyed training together.

Hope to see everyone back for the 2nd Day of Taekwon-Do & Kids Day 2022, in October.

National Umpire Course by the ITF-Belgium TUIC

The Bushido dojang in Jambes and it’s Instructor Sabum Patrick Crevecoeur (VI degree) received in their hall the participants of the National Umpire Course (in French) on Sunday 29 May.

Master Eddy Van Damme and Sabum Benito Martinez were in charge of this seminar in two parts: first part for beginners before noon and second part in the afternoon for advanced students.

The beginners course, with 21 participants, started with explanations on the functions of every umpire in the ring, the protocols, how to set a ring council for individual tul, the scoring method and possible mistakes. After this came the practice in which the students turned in different functions like corner referees and jury member or equipment verifier.

The important issues of the umpire integrity, attitude and authority was in the middle of some interventions of the instructors, also the need of constant knowledge, improving and practice.

The second part was dedicated to the students and instructors who had already experience in umpiring. The advanced course (also 19 participants) started with the explanation of the setting of the pools, very important for the good development of the work in the ring, and a fundamental part of the job of the Jury president and assistants.

The job of center referee and Jury president were in the middle of this part of the course. In the part dedicated to sparring, the instructors explained the different warnings and fouls, the hand signals and procedures used by the center referees, the golden point procedure, the use of the protest and medical forms, the disqualifications and different real situations an umpire can face when in the ring.

There was a lot of practice, the participants divided in two groups and many of them could act as corner and central umpires, with some of the students acting as competitor for tul, sparring, team tul and team sparring. Power breaking and special techniques closed the inspiring and motivating day. There was an excellent ambience,a good sense of humor and motivation from all participants. Thanks to Sabum Patrick Crevecoeur and his students for theirs hospitality and contribution during the whole seminar. Thanks also to the other participants for their contribution and interesting questions.

National Umpire Course for Center Referees and Jury Presidents

On Sunday 15 May Hodori hosted the National Umpire Course for ITF Belgium.

On the programme were the new ITF competition rules which come into effect in July 2022, but this time focused on centre referees and jury presidents.

The course was given by master Eddy Van Damme, president of the TUIC and boosabum Sophie Ardenoy.

First the setting up of a ring was practised.

Then the rules were gone over à la carte with the focus on techniques, stances, sinewave, power, breathing for tul and team tul. The interpretation of pooles on paper was looked at and errors were picked out.

Then practice was done for centre referees and jury presidents for this part.

The same pattern was maintained after the break for sparring and team sparring.

Finally pre-arranged free sparring, power breaking and special techniques were treated.

The course ended at 16h.

The certificates will be delivered by mail to the individual participants or through their school owners.

National Umpire Course for beginners

On Sunday 15 May Hodori hosted the National Umpire Course for ITF Belgium.

About 20 participants were present.

On the programme were the new ITF competition rules that will come into effect in July 2022.

The course was given by master Eddy Van Damme, chairman of the TUIC and boosabum Sophie Ardenoy.

First the setting up of a ring was practised + a small quiz.

After that the basic rules were gone over with the focus on techniques, stances, sinewave, power, breathing for tul and teamtul.

Then practice was done for corner referees and jury members for this part.

The same pattern was maintained after the break for sparring.

The course ended at 12.30 pm.

The certificates will be delivered by mail to the individual participants or through their school owners.
