European Championships 2021

Due to the pandemic the EC 2020 had to be cancelled and also the 2021 edition, which had to take place in April, was postponed. It was insecure if this year the EC could still be organised, but at last the organisation received the green light for the end of November. It will be an edition with a lot of measures and precautions, and without audience, but still everyone is happy to be able to compete again.

The national coaches never stopped working with the candidates for the national team and found ways and alternatives to keep the potential team members busy and motivated. This resulted in a rather big 2021 team: see team members here.

The coaches: Master Virginia Dionisi, Andreea Musca, Erik Van Hoeck, Hans Van Lierde and Nicolas Taylor. Officials: GrandMaster Frank Vanbeghen and Master Annick Van Driessche. We’re awaiting feedback on the selection of the umpires, Benito Martinez is candidate to be one of the referees at the tournament.

Best of luck to all!

Action for the victims of the floods

The T-shirt action in favour of the victims of the floods (July 14-15) collected 460€. The sum was transferred to the account 2525 of the Red Cross.

Many thanks to the members, instructors and clubs that ordered one of more T-shirts in order to support the action.

Action ITF-Belgium T-shirts for the victims of the floods

The T-shirts ITF-Belgium are still available (in sizes 8, 12, XS and XL – other sizes are already out of stock ), with the ITF logo in the front and the logo ITF-Belgium at the back. The price has not changed for years, it’s still 12€. However, we’re doing a special action from today until July 31st.

You can order one or more T-shirts (contact taekwondo1@telenet.be); the amount we collect this way, of T-shirts ordered and transfered before that date, will be tranferred integrally to the bank account of the Red Cross for the victims of the floods of last week.

Send an e-mail, we can agree on how the shirt(s) will come your way, and transfer the amount right away to the number that will be send as reply (in order to be sure, you can send the proof of payment before the deadline).

A new step forwards to ‘normal’

As from Wednesday June 9th on, indoor sport sessions are permitted again for groups up to 50 persons. So far without contact, and still with quite some restrictions and measures, but this is another step forwards on the way to a more ‘normal’ life.

ITF Policy on Harassment

Although due to the pandemic the ITF Board is not able to meet in person, since April 2020 the Board Members had a Board Meeting through Zoom every month, always on a Sunday morning 7.00 am CET, for 5-6 hours. A lot has been done and decided during these many hours, and also the ITF Bylaws have been revised, many ITF Policies have been updated or written, etc.

On May 2nd also the new ITF Adult Harassment Policy was voted after several months of work and 16 draft versions. Meanwhile a Children Harassment Policy is on its way.

The policy comes with an awareness campaigh against all kinds of harassment, to show that ITF has zero tolerance against harassment.

ITF-Belgium will implement the policy in its own rules, at this moment the Disciplinary Committee and the API’s are working on this.

The policy is published on the ITF website and on the website ITF-Belgium, in the section ‘Documents’: click here.
