National Umpire Course (Dutch)

Report by Sophie Ardenoy: On saturday 18/02/203, the club Bounce Back Martial Arts hosted a National Umpire Course in Waasmunster. The course, in Dutch language, was conducted by Master Eddy Van Damme and Boosabum Sophie Ardenoy from the Tournament Umpire and IT Comitee. There was a first part for beginners and a second part for advanced umpires.

How to set a ring for tul or sparring, the protocols, rules and behaviour of the umpires, the differents duties in the different positions or functions in the ring, hand signals and other procedures were part of the content of the course. In total 38 participants made a lot of questions and showed a great motivation and interest. As TUIC we hope this can bring more potential umpires to our championship and help to improve their quality. 

National Umpire Course (French)

On Sunday February 12, the club Bushido leaded by Sabum Parick Crevecoeur, hosted the first National Umpire course of 2023. The course, in French language, was conducted by Master Eddy Van Damme and Sabum Benito Martinez, from the Tournament Umpire and IT Comitee. there was a first part for beginners and a second part for advanced umpires.

How to set a ring for tul or sparring, the protocols, rules and behaviour of the umpires, the differents duties in the different positions or functions in the ring, hand signals and other procedures were part of the content of the course. In total 53 participants, 30 in the morning and 23 in the afternoon made a lot of questions and showed a great motivation and interest. As TUIC we hope this can bring more potential umpires to our championship and help to improve their quality. In one week, on the 19th of February the course will be given in Dutch language at the Flemish region.

National Umpire Course for Center Referees and Jury Presidents

On Sunday 15 May Hodori hosted the National Umpire Course for ITF Belgium.

On the programme were the new ITF competition rules which come into effect in July 2022, but this time focused on centre referees and jury presidents.

The course was given by master Eddy Van Damme, president of the TUIC and boosabum Sophie Ardenoy.

First the setting up of a ring was practised.

Then the rules were gone over à la carte with the focus on techniques, stances, sinewave, power, breathing for tul and team tul. The interpretation of pooles on paper was looked at and errors were picked out.

Then practice was done for centre referees and jury presidents for this part.

The same pattern was maintained after the break for sparring and team sparring.

Finally pre-arranged free sparring, power breaking and special techniques were treated.

The course ended at 16h.

The certificates will be delivered by mail to the individual participants or through their school owners.

National Umpire Course for beginners

On Sunday 15 May Hodori hosted the National Umpire Course for ITF Belgium.

About 20 participants were present.

On the programme were the new ITF competition rules that will come into effect in July 2022.

The course was given by master Eddy Van Damme, chairman of the TUIC and boosabum Sophie Ardenoy.

First the setting up of a ring was practised + a small quiz.

After that the basic rules were gone over with the focus on techniques, stances, sinewave, power, breathing for tul and teamtul.

Then practice was done for corner referees and jury members for this part.

The same pattern was maintained after the break for sparring.

The course ended at 12.30 pm.

The certificates will be delivered by mail to the individual participants or through their school owners.
