European Championships 2019

Sunday June 23rd the trials for the 2019 EC in Sarajevo were done, followed by a meeting with the coaches. The members of the belgian team received the announcement a day later.

Are selected for the European Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, October 2019:

  • Musca Andreea: tul IV°-VI°degree, sparring -50kg, pre-arranged free sparring, team power breaking
  • Erik Van Hoeck: sparring -78kg, team sparring
  • Esther Meulemeester: sparring -75kg, power breaking, team power breaking
  • Roeland Heirbaut: tul II°degree, sparring -70kg, special techniques, team sparring
  • Terence Bewa: sparring -78kg, team sparring
  • Leen Walraeve: tul I°degree, pre-arranged free sparring, team power breaking
  • Laura Mouret: tul I°degree, sparring -68kg, team power breaking
  • Hans Van Lierde: power breaking
  • Nicolas Taylor: sparring -85kg, team sparring
  • Corentin Besonhé: sparring -85kg, team sparring
  • Tabitha Van Lierde: junior tul I°degree, junior power breaking
  • Lisa Ghijsens: junior tul I°degree

The AETF Umpire Committee selected 50 umpires for the championship. Amongst them are also 2 belgian referees: Eddy Van Damme and Benito Martinez.

Trial training for EC 2019

On Sunday June 23rd, in Lokeren, the trials for the 2019 European Championships will be held. The trails will start at 13.00.

Are you a black belt, and would you like to be part of the national team for the European Championships in Sarajevo, October 2019? This is your chance to get selected.

Show your abilities to the coaches. Umpires appointed by the U&T Committee ITF-Belgium will be present to judge you, and will create the same environment as on a championship.

ITF Taekwon-Do European Championships 2018

During the Belgian Championships of February 25th the national coaches announced the 2018 selection for the national team (EC in Maribor, Slovenia April 12th-15th):

 

  • Hans Rombaut: senior male tul IV°-VI° degree
  • Hans Van Lierde: senior male power breaking
  • Margaux Pollefeyt: junior female tul I° degree
  • Alice Vrinat: senior female sparring -68kg
  • Omar El Ferkhani: senior male sparring -63kg

Day 1 of the 2017 European Championships: medals for Belgium

On the first day of the 2017 EC ITF-BELGIUM won 2 medals.  In pre-arranged sparring Andreea Musca & Leen Walraeve won the bronze medal by beating Bulgaria in the first bout, losing from Norway in the second round by 2-3. Andreea also won a bronze medal in tul 4-6 degree, her first EC in this category as she only just graded last February.

Good performances also by Leen in tul 1st degree and by Roeland Heirbaut in junior tul 1st degree,  winning over Italy in his first bout and losing afterwards from Norway, the 2017 European Champion. Roeland is up against Slovenia in sparring tomorrow.

2017 European Championships

Only one week before the Belgian team will leave for Sofia, Bulgaria where the 2017 ITF Taekwon-Do European Championships will take place (April 18-24).
